Red Brick Row
Using silk as a representative of the red brick used for affordable housing units (The Projects) in New York City in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, the delicate and expensive nature of the fabric juxtaposes the formerly cheap brick used for housing structures that were largely vacant or in shambles due to socio-economic crisis and racism. Rope filament, braided like hair, hangs loosely, ending in a noose, creating eerie shadows masked by the fabric.
Silk, multifilament rope, size variable.
